What’s the mission of your company?
To enhance the spiritual and moral fabric of society through creative media.

Why do you love your work?
I love working with such an innovative and creative company that teaches and makes children laugh all at the same time.

What sorts of people like to receive your company’s products as gifts and why do your products make good gifts for them?
As you probably know, when kids fall in love with cartoon characters, they don’t just want to watch them. They want to play with them, wear them, live them. If a story really engages a child, they’ll want to act it out in creative play and hang it up on their walls! Our biggest fans typically range from 2-8 years old. Our products are great gifts because they provide quality entertainment!

What role do you see for social media in the way that people interact with, and purchase your products in the future?
Social media is a platform that allows us to personalize our brand and products in a direct and unique way. It also allows us to create relationships with people that we may not have otherwise interacted with on a daily basis. We love staying in touch with our consumers and giving up to date information through social media.

Group gifting allows groups of people to team up and buy products as gifts. What benefits and challenges do you see in bringing group gifting to your customers?
We think group gifting is an excellent idea. It is a great way to introduce our brand to new consumers and to introduce new products to current fans. We love the quick and easy shopping to help with busy schedules.

Please list up to five of your products that you think would make excellent group gifts.

Interview with GiveButtons

November 2, 2011

Interview with Erin from GiveButtons

Tell us a little about your company
We are a small group of passionate designers and developers who crossed paths at a lab at the University of Toronto. Problem solving is what we love to do, and we set out to solve the problem of social gift-giving in early 2011.

What’s the mission of your company?
Our aim is to create a friendly and unassuming gift-giving community around an easy gift-giving website. We want to simplify the way people give gifts. We are working day and night to create an easy (and free!) way for a group of friends to share gift ideas, discuss and decide on gifts, and make purchases. Hopefully soon, every product online can be given as a gift using a give button!

How would you describe your company’s brand?
The focus of our service is simplicity. We provide what you need to find and decide on the perfect gift, and nothing more. No frills, no ads. A simple, easy, and beautiful site is what we want our users to experience.

Why do you love your work?
We are having so much fun creating a service that we know we ourselves and our friends would use.

What sorts of people like to receive your company’s products as gifts and why do your products make good gifts for them?
Age is just a number! We cater to anyone who consider themselves young, hip, and generous gift givers. If you’re comfortable with social media such as Facebook, that’s a plus but certainly not a must. Gift giving, whether individual or with a group, is a form of social expression – and we are here to help you express yourselves!

What role do you see for social media in the way that people interact with, and purchase your products in the future?
Who doesn’t have a Facebook account? Social media is where it’s at! It’s how we communicate, share photos, schedule events – it only makes sense to now be able to give gifts through social media.

Group gifting allows groups of people to team up and buy products as gifts. What benefits and challenges do you see in bringing group gifting to your customers?
We all do it, all the time – through a huge email thread, a discussion over dinner, or many phone calls. And when the decision’s been made, we need the assistance of a calculator to figure out who owes whom what amount. Givebuttons provides a simpler, more fun, faster, easier way. It’s a no brainer.

Challenges? Getting the word out!

Please list up to five of your products that you think would make excellent group gifts.

Organic Gift Basket - Premium (US Only) - $129.99

Foley Corinna FC Lady Clutch - Clutch - $200.00

Microsoft RKB-0001 Xbox 360 Console Bundle - $308.30
